30 weeks and adam's 30th birthday!

29 WEEKS!

ok - i had my 30 week appt. today - everything is great - even dr. pickens said "it's just a belly check" i'm measuring in at 31 weeks - he said i'm right on time. and the way things are progressing he doesn't see any preterm issues arising! (and then he said we hope - and i knock on wood!)

also today is adam's 30th birthday! plan is to have dinner at home and then go to the movies to see the blind side! he got his birthday gift early (on monday) - a standing valet. i didn't have anywhere to hide it - it made for a happy adam.

my most recent ultrasound...

so i had another ultrasound on dec. 2nd - and aiden looks good! he's measuring about a week ahead of schedule. he's about 7.5 inches from head to bottom and he weighs about 2 pounds and 9 oz.

he had his legs and feet all the way up over his head...

look - his foot is touching his forehead!

so cute!

at one point in time he reached up with his hand to grab his foot! and we could see his chest rise and fall - so he was breathing... and we saw him yawn!!

my next appt. is in 3 weeks... stay tuned!

26 weeks - 3 days

so we only have a little over 13 weeks left - if he comes on time...CRAZY!! Here is my belly picture from today...

sleeping has been getting difficult. we stayed over at adam's parents house thanksgiving night - and i normally don't have a hard time sleeping as long as we are in the bed upstairs - not while pregnant i guess.... my hips hurt SO BAD! i was rotating probably every hour from side to side - i had to lay for a little bit on my stomach and my back too - of course not too long on my back - but i had to stretch out a little! it brought some great appreciation to my pillow top mattress. my hips still hurt at home in bed - but not as bad. i will be very greatful for when the next 13 or so weeks is over so i can go back to sleeping on my back!

i got the phone call from babies-r-us today - our crib and changing table are in and ready for pickup!! YAY! we'll be picking up on thursday after school - on our way to pick up our tickets for the buffalo bills game on dec. 27th!

adam and i put up the christmas tree last night - i LOVE my prelit tree... so easy! then today we hung lights up outside the house and decorated the tree... it looks so pretty! i LOVE christmas!

next appt is this wednesday! i am scheduled for another ultrasound also! i'll do my best to update right after :)

okay - well lets see... i got the results back from my glucose screening test and i passed with flying colors!! :) yay! (needed to be below 140 and i was 74!!)

and now that i'm about to hit the third trimester (CRAZY!) and because of my history of high blood pressure he wants me to come in once a week - mainly to keep an eye on me in case i develop preeclampsia.... which i am willing myself - not to happen! normally i would go to dr.'s visits every 2 weeks now - but once a week works - i like that they are keeping a good eye on us! also at my next visit i get another ultrasound! he said that i should look toward one ultrasound per month. that'll be nice - i measured a little over a week farther along than i should be.... although i've been told that that isn't all that accurate... so it'll be nice to have the U/S measurements!

so i'm up early and watching DVR'd christmas movies from ABC families countdown to 25 days of christmas... i LOVE christmas - and i LOVE the fact that ABC family counts down to their countdown!! i'm ready to start decorating for christmas... but trying to hold off until after thanksgiving

we've gotten some shopping done for aiden - last weekend we got his pack-n-play thanks to adam's grandparents and this weekend we had some great coupons for babies-r-us that were only good until today... so we bought aiden's bedding and his mobile... and then adam's mom and dad bought us his crib and changing table... they didn't have it in stock so we had to order it - it should be in in the next 2 weeks! i'm so ready to start putting up his room! :)

so i'm sitting here watching "a baby story" - the first time i've ever watched - and i have 5 in a row to watch... i figured it would help to prepare me...

adam has a new g ride/family mobile -we traded in his chevy silverado and got a chevy tahoe - it's all blacked out - sittin' on 20's - has rims - and an exhaust... adam is on cloud 9! and now we definately have 2 vehicles that are safe for baby aiden :)

i'm really ready and excited to get things going for aiden's room... hopefully in a couple more weeks

registering.... complete!

so adam and i went to kennesaw saturday afternoon - and we registered at Babies R Us - we were there for quite a while... MUCH longer than when we registered at Target! partially (probably) because we know what we are having now! we had a lot of fun!

we also stopped by this really cute baby boutique (AKA - REALLY EXPENSIVE BABY STUFF!) and it was neat to just walk through - we mainly went there to get adam's daddy diaper bag - which looks like a backpack - he's excited. they had some really cute stuff there - i did get a sign for the wall that says "you are my sunshine" my mom ALWAYS sang that song... i also took pictures of some of their other signs that i can make myself :)

and then we went to look at some SUV's - to check out the difference in the sizes - adam is going for the suburban... so we'll see when that happens - after that we went to dinner and then headed home.

it was a fun day!

now i just need to go back to target and do a little updating there... but basically - we're done! :)

WE'RE HAVING A BOY!

i know... it's taken me a while to update this... i was waiting to get my pictures scanned - but i'm going to go ahead and update - and post pictures later...

so the tech asked if we had any guesses... i told her that i thought that it was a girl... and then she asked me - "do you see that 3rd leg right there?" i didn't see it at first - adam saw it right away! things were really well - he was laying on his back and he was breech... so i had to walk around a bit to get him to shift a little so the tech could finish getting his measurements. she said that everything looked good - he measures in (from head to bottom) 14.75 cm and weighs 14 oz (just shy of 1 lb) the heart rate was 148 bpm. adam and i are both very excited!

we have movement!! (i think) ;)

so i woke up this morning at 6am - and rolled over to my back to stretch out a little - i placed my hand on the lower part of my stomach... and almost immediately i felt a little kick! on the outside!!! and then i felt some flutters inside my stomach!!! i had adam put his hand where my hand was and he think he felt something! HOW COOL IS THAT!! i was starting to get nervous because i hadn't felt anything... and there was a bunch this morning! SO EXCITING!

and on another note - today is the day for the big ultrasound! i'll update with more info once all our family knows!

it's an exciting friday!

good to be home...

adam and i are back from our vacation and it was great! thanks to brandy we had a great place to stay at on the canal in surf city...

tuesday when we got in we traveled around jacksonville to see what all had changed... then we joined our friends tony and steph for dinner at mongolian bbq - afterwards we all came back to our place to hangout... (it's just grape juice.... but i thought it was funny) :)

wednesday we traveled around and visited my old schools - and we also went on base for a little - steph wanted to buy us our first pair of baby cammies.... that night we met up with a buddy of adam's for dinner at hooters (mmm....i LOVE their wings) afterwards adam and blake went out to the tarheel for a guys night out... i hung out with one of my girlfriends -jamielea- and then went back to our place - watched some tv and colored :)

thursday adam and i slept in and it was WONDERFUL! and really didn't do all that much - went on base to have lunch with blake.... and that early evening we went to logans to have dinner with a bunch of my old coworkers - and they threw us a surprise baby shower - it was so sweet of them...

and friday was a rough day - i slept horribly - i am guessing that i now have carpal tunnel - i was reading up on it (at 4:30am when i couldn't sleep) and i think that i have had symptoms for a while... mainly waking up with my hands being numb.... well my thumb was killing me! i couldn't even hold my brush with my right hand... so i couldn't straighten my hair - needed adam to help me get dressed - couldn't feed myself with my right hand... i was in a lot of pain!

then it was time for us to leave our vacation house....

i went back out to southwest so i could see one of my friends that i missed earlier in the week - my assistant when i was teaching there - and brandy's little girl (who isn't so little anymore) and we hung out there while the little ones had lunch - later on i met up with my friend dana for coffee (i had a strawberry creme frap - no coffee) and we just hung out and chatted until we had to leave.... then we went to my sisters new place and then we went up to mikes farm for dinner... (mmmm - i love that place!)

after we were done there - adam and i decided to get on the road - we drove to columbia, sc -a good halfway point- slept over in a hotel .... and now we are home - with our furbabies...and oh how i've missed them!

it was nice to get away - but i'm glad to be home.... i just hope that my hand really feels a whole lot better - so that i can actually hold a pen to write with when i go back to work on monday!

so adam and i will be off around 4am tomorrow - for NC - we are staying in Surf City - and visiting everyone in the Jacksonville area! i'm super excited... i can't wait to see everyone!

i'm staying up right now - watching my monday night tv - one tree hill, gossip girl, and heroes - and adam is in bed.... his alarm is set for 3:30

a kindergarten story

i just had to share this story....

i wanted to be the one to tell my students that i was going to have a baby and teachers would say things in the hallway - so i needed to tell them before one of my coworkers leaked it out instead...

i bought the book "Our Teacher's Having a Baby" by eve bunting and i read that to my students today. after i read the book i asked them "why do you think i read this book to you?" i got answers like
*you like the story
*you like to read
*you like the baby in the story
*you want us to like to read

finally one of my students said "the teacher is pregnant" and i said "who is pregnant?" and they said "the teacher" then i asked... "who's the teacher" and they said "you are" after going back and forth with these same questions for a little finally one of my little girls said "because your going to have a baby."

oh my - it took a while to get that out of them... but once they figured it out they were excited. it was really cute! they make me laugh!!

4th doctors appt... 16 weeks down...

24 left to go!

GOSH - i can't believe it... when you talk about it that way - it seems so close - but when i think about march 3rd - it seems so far away!

my 4th doctors appt went well - i got to meet one of the doctors in the practice - he may be the one to deliver my baby.... he was pretty nice. we didn't do much -we decided NOT to do the quad screening - listened to the heart beat (which was in the 150's - and it sounded pretty strong to me!) - he answered some of my questions and we talked a little about my next appt. in 4 weeks...which is also the BIG ultrasound!!! :) i can't wait to find out what we are having!

adam and i started our registry on friday... after talking to a few people we decided to get started with items that we didn't need to know the gender - along with gender neutral pattern for our travel system/high chair/pack-n-play. we registered at target (which wasn't our original choice) let me fill you in on how THAT happened... i want to register at babys-r-us... but we also wanted to chose something that was easy for people to get to - since there isn't a BRU everywhere - we even have to travel to get to one here about 45 min.... well we chose to also register at walmart... because there aren't targets everywhere (for example... here - we have to travel to get to one of those too!) so we walk into walmart to register to be told that you can't register in store anymore... only online - which infuriated me for some reason - i'm blaming it completely on the pregnancy hormones! so that is how we ended up registering at target - which i do like much better anyways!)

okay so this has been our pregnancy update...

holy back pain batman!

yeah i definately have lower back pain now... i am not enjoying this part... i'm kind of surprised that i have it already... but i'm going to blame the job for that... teaching kindergarten i'm kind of all over the place... standing, sitting, on the floor, sitting in the little kindergarten chairs... i need to remember to prop my feet up when i have my breaks (activity time - rest time)

i'm taking tylenol but that isn't helping that much... right now i'm sitting at home with the heating pad (on low) on my back and that is helping it to feel a little better.

as for my morning sickness - haven't had much trouble with that - until today - adam and i traveld to kennesaw today to do some shopping (both window and actual shopping) and i had to have him stop at a kroger on the way to pick me up some crackers... i fixed myself some egg whites for breakfast and i sat down and was about to eat them and then.... i couldn't - the smell - i have now had my first food adversion... today was the first time i made myself eggs so far this whole pregnancy... i guess my breakfast is limited to cereal or english muffins.....

okie dokie - i guess thats all for tonight... i hope everyone is doing well!

morning sickness now?

oh - my stomach feels so wierd!! yesterday everything i put into it just seemed to upset it... today it was okay for most of the day - but once i got home it felt kind of upset... i ate a small snack and then i fell asleep for a little - maybe about 30 min. - and i was STARVING! so i made some perogies and green beans... and it feels good to have food in my stomach - but it doesn't feel settled.

PLEASE don't tell me i'm getting morning sickness now!?

3rd appointment!

so we had our 3rd appointment on wednesday and it went well.... nothing big happened - i had to have some tests done and i got to hear the heartbeat again which was so nice! my FNP said that it was really easy to find the heartbeat - and it was strong!

my next appointment is in 4 weeks - and we can choose to have a blood test to check for birth defects - it doesn't say a definative yes or no... it just gives percentages that your child may or may not have any of them... i don't know if we are going to do it or not - i guess we have 4 weeks to decide.

and now i will also begin seeing all the doctors in the practice. that way i get to at least meet all the doctors that might deliver our little peanut!

i had some lower back pain yesterday.... it started around 10:30 at school and lasted all day... it hurt pretty bad - i took some tylonol - and it didn't do anything. i woke up this morning and it feels a whole lot better.

other than that... everything is great - i'm ready to be out of the first trimester.... just a few more days!! :)

maternity clothes

so adam and i drove to woodstock last night (about an hour away) to hit up the old navy maternity section.... we almost got stuck in traffic because of construction - but we made it in time... we were there at 8:15 pm and they close at 9:00 pm

they didn't have much... i heard that they were closing down their maternity line - thats why i really wanted to hit it up a little early. also i feel VERY bloated (baby bloat) and pants are fitting tight and my shirts are definately tight around my tummy...

i got 2 pairs of jeans - and let me tell you.... they are the most comfortable pairs of jeans that i have EVER put on! and 3 shirts - one purple, one black, and one white. jeans were on sale ($20 - they were half price!) so this is added to my black pants and khakis pants i already got at target (on clearance for $8!) so glad i've been able to find things on sale! i know maternity clothes are a necessity - but i hate to have to spend a lot of money on them!

okay folks.... next week is my 12 week appt!

1st Ultrasound!

okay so we FINALLY had our first ultrasound today!!

our little sunshine is 8 weeks and 2 days old! (s)he measures in at 1.8cm and the heartbeat measured in at 174 beats per minute.

ultrasound rescheduled

so the doctors office called at 10:15 this morning and my FNP had an emergancy and can not see me today!!!

rescheduled for 8:30 tomorrow morning! so at least we don't have to wait all day....

hopefully we will have a real update tomorrow - with a picture!

monday, monday

well it feels like these 2 weeks are dragging... and because i cannot wait - THAT is why it is taking forever!

haven't had any morning sickness as of yet... but i have had some nausea - but not actually getting sick.

i have finished 1 pregnancy book so far - The Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy and now i am reading What to Expect When You're Expecting. the girlfriends guide was really funny!

the countdown to back to school has begun - 15 days (and that is including weekends) until we are back to school... lets see how long i can keep this a secret at school..... who knows - what with our "shopping" trips (aka - happy hour)

First Post 6-7 weeks

we had our first doctors appointment today!! she said that i'm about 6-7 weeks... we will know more when i have my first ultrasound in 2 weeks! as of right now - no "morning" sickness (yay)

i got a lot of my questions answered - oh and my F.N.P. is also pregnant with her first!

nothing much else to report on right now... yes we have been telling family and close friends - so here is what we will use to help keep everyone informed! keep checking - i will do my best to keep this up-to-date!
