my little boy is going to be 1 year old in 2 weeks!
WHEN DID THAT HAPPEN?!?!
we are slowly getting ready - i am slowly getting everything together for it. we are having a party at our house the day before with family and friends. i hate that we don't have that many friends here with kids - so it's basically going to be an adult party.
we went out and got aiden's gift this weekend - with him! adam said "i can't believe we are going shopping for his birthday gift with him." - i said he isn't going to know ;-P can't tell you what it is either - you'll have to wait and see after his party!
adam has requested off for his actual birthday (sunday, march 6th) i hope it gets approved - i am hoping to take aiden to the childrens museum in chattanooga.

adventures in eating
so trying to get aiden to eat stage 3 foods and table foods has been difficult - aiden would gag so bad (which gagging is a normal part of learning to eat) that he would throw up... not just little spit up - full out. so we waited to try some more...
last week aiden finally ate stage 3 foods without a struggle (or gagging) - so then this weekend i thought - let's try some table food - so at breakfast i gave him some of my banana - and he ate that up! at lunch i gave him some of my macaroni and cheese - and he ate that up! so i talked to day care about how they like to start table foods and they were up to try whatever we wanted.... so this morning adam looked at the menu and gave the ok on some foods....
today at daycare aiden ate blueberry waffles for breakfast! ms. cecilia said that the older kids are always trying so hard to keep aiden away from their food - he was always so interested in what they were having! well - she gave him the waffle and he had NO CLUE what to do... she said he started to tear it apart and throw it on the ground! so she showed him - put a few pieces in his mouth and after that - he tore it up!! at lunch he ate half a chicken patty, half a roll and some mixed fruit and mixed veggies. they said he didn't really care for the veggies - but LOVED the bread.
so for dinner tonight - we started off eating some of his baby food (veggie chicken) and then i put some green peas on his tray...

he ate them all up! i know he loves feeding himself - i can't believe how much he is growing up!!

here he is on his first swing ride...

and he LOVED it!

then we went on some slides!

and we explored the park

we had a lot of fun! aiden really seemed to enjoy it and i can't wait to go back with him!

medical frustration
aiden was running a fever last night - about 102.3... we gave him some motrin and put him to bed - we would see how it was in the morning... he woke up around midnight - i took his temp again and it was down to 99.5... but since he still had a fever i gave him some tylenol... and he went back to bed - well he woke up around 5:30am - he had a fever - 102... so we decided that i would take him to urgent care when they opened up at 9am
well they checked his tubes and they were fine and then they did the flu test and it came back positive... all i was told was to watch to make sure he doesn't have trouble breathing - well around 1:00 his temp had rose to 103 - i gave him tylenol and we laid down for a nap - we woke up at 3:00 burning up... his fever had gone up to 104.1 - so i called urgent care and told them how i was there this AM and wanted to know if this was normal - they had a nurse call me back and she told me that i had to take him to the ER - that he will need fluids and it is so dangerous for him to have a fever like that when he is this little. so i called adam and he came home and got us so we could go to the ER.
we check in... they check his temp, weight, oxygen and ask all the questions about why we were there... then we do the usual ER waiting - and then we finally make it to the back - get asked the same questions - and then told that everything was fine - he has the flu and Tamiflu doesn't really do anything... it just treats the symptoms - most people don't take it because it's so expensive (yeah - learned that today) and that he's going to run a high fever while he is fighting off the flu - give him tylenol and motrin to keep the fever down (doing that) - give him lots of fluids (doing that) - and watch for lack of liquids (saliva - pee - chapped lips - no tears when crying) if you see that - thats when he needs to come back. That'll be $200 - thank you.
that being said - besides having the high fever - you wouldn't really know he was sick - he doesn't act much differently when he's sick - he is still goofy and wants to play and laugh. he is doing well (for the most part) just a little cranky -and cuddly!

let it snow!!
well we woke up monday morning to all this SNOW! (i thought we lived in GA!?)
here is what our front yard looked like....
here is what our front yard looked like....
and here is what out back yard looked like...
we measured - we have 5" of snow!
i bundled aiden up and we went outside... he took one step in that slippery snow and fell down!
he crawled around...
lost one of his mittens - and ecko came out to join us!
mommy wanted one more picture - aiden was ready to go back inside!
these boots from grammy and poppy were way too big - so instead of wearing them outside - i used them as a teether once we came back in!
daddy had to work (the jail is NEVER closed) - so mommy and aiden spent the day at home - playing with all of aiden's toys and watching a little bit of sprout... here is what our living room looked like at the end of the day...
it was a busy day - we have another snow day today... although i am determined to get out of the house today... hopefully to the gym this evening! i hope everyone is staying safe and warm!!

we have a walker!
so aiden started walking on the 23rd - only about 4 steps and then he would fall... well today i picked him up from day care and his teacher said "he's been walking a lot today!" so i thought that was pretty exciting. well we got home and i was making dinner and aiden started to walk from the living room into the kitchen - he stepped away from the couch and started to walk to me... he walked about 6 feet!!
i've been trying to get video of him walking - but it seems like every time i have my camera he falls and crawls!
i will have a video to share soon!
